Broad Band Light (BBL), also known as intense pulsed light (IPL), utilizes light energy to reduce hair growth. It is especially effective on lighter skin tones as the device targets pigment melanin in the hair follicles. The BBL can be used on several areas around the body, such as the face, back, underarms, bikini line, legs, and arms. The device can target large areas, such as the back and legs, in just 2-5 minutes.
The Forever Bare BBL is known for its rapid treatment sessions. It removes hair without missing any spots like other devices, making it one of the quickest hair removal treatments on the market.

A typical BBL device can emit light at various wavelengths, each targeting a different  chromophore within the body. Depending on the treatment, the practitioner places a filter glass over the device to block out the redundant bands of light. This will only allow the necessary wavelengths to pass through. When used for hair removal, the melanin-rich hair follicles absorb the light. It is then instantly converted to heat, inflicting a minor thermal injury. The hair follicles die while the surrounding skin remains intact. Patients may feel  slight discomfort or a snapping sensation during the procedure. This only lasts while the treatment is complete, and no recovery time is needed. Patients will need multiple sessions to notice effective results.
